Maud in Cahoots
with opening act
Ponyhof
Friday, March 7 | 8 pm
Every spring, music fans, industry insiders and top artists from across the globe gather in Austin, Texas for the world’s leading music industry event, South By Southwest (SXSW), which features over 2,200 regional, national and international acts.
In fall 2012 and 2013, you enjoyed the newest acts from Ireland at our Music From Ireland CMJ Showcases. This season we’ve invited darlings of last year's SXSW Dublin sisters Maud in Cahoots to play a full set with local opener Ponyhof so you can preview their music. Be among the first to spot Ireland’s next top artists as they perform in full spirit.
Maud in Cahoots
"Undisputedly one of the finest unsigned acts in the country. We recommend getting on this particular bandwagon early. If they become as big as they deserve to, you may soon struggle to get tickets....Maud has the kind of big, gorgeously toned soul voice and blonde good looks that would probably see her succeed as a pop star even if she could not write her own songs." - Hot Press Magazine
Maud in Cahoots is Dublin sisters Maud and Zoe Reardon. Combining luscious chamber-pop arrangements with melancholy melodies worthy of the most lovelorn of Scandinavian chanteuses, Maud in Cahoots occupy a point on the alternative music epicentre. Having relocated to Dublin from London in January 2013 the band performed their new single and a host of great tracks at festivals such as Electric Picnic and Sea Sessions this summer. With plans for an album in early 2014 the future is exciting for these Dublin sisters.
Ponyhof
"The magic of Ponyhof is both delicate and energetic, lighthearted while also quite deep, fresh yet undeniably familiar; think St. Vincent meets Bjork atop flourishing dance beats." - Bushwick Daily
Brooklyn-based artist Carrie Erving writes songs that draw heavily on the influences of her time living in Europe. Her intensely personal and melodic singing and songwriting style combines German inspired electronic drums and analog synthesizers and Irish inspired ballads and sean-nós singing. In 2010, she formed Ponyhof, a New York-based collective of musicians performing her new songs. She previously played under the name "Erving."
Enlisting the help of renowned DFA mixer Eric Broucek to mix Ponyhof's full-length debut, "Empires" showcases the talents of cellist and album co-producer/arranger Chris Loxley, drummer Ricky Petraglia, and bassist Robert Sahm (Le Loup), and features guest vocals by Erving's friend Will Butler (Arcade Fire). Sample her music here.

Music From Ireland is an initiative created by First Music Contact in partnership with Culture Ireland, which promotes Irish talent at major music festivals throughout each year.
