An exploration of the vaudeville-era exchanges and rivalries between African Americans and Irish Americans through the vernacular, song, dance, costumes and performances of the time. Explore the minstrel, cake walk, rag time, and tin pan alley eras through the works of Billy Kersands, Black And White MinstrelShow, Black Patti, Harrigan and Hart, Williams and Walker, Haverly's Bill Robinson, Cantor and Jolson, and The Nicolas Brothers. Live piano and dance performances by Brendan Dolan, Wayne Daniels and Meghan Downes accompany an open dialogue on the connections between Harlem’s African American community and Hell’s Kitchen’s Irish origins.

Sloan, most recently Pennsylvania Film Commissioner and Director of Cultural and Heritage Initiatives, and with film credits including the Emmy award-winning films Ethnic Notions and Dance Black America, and Dr. Mick Moloney, Global Distinguished Professor of Music and Irish Studies at NYU.
