MEET THE COMPANY



Nicholas Cocchetto - Ensemble

Nicholas is thrilled to be celebrating the tiny amount of Irish blood in his veins with Oiche Shamhna! He holds his BFA from Niagara University and has also studied at Stella Adler Studios in New York and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and is a VERY proud ESPAtriot. His recent credits include Barnardine in Measure for Measure and Sam Weinberg in A Few Good Men. Love to all my nieces! Happy Halloween!

 

Mila Golubov - Playwright

Mila Golubov's short plays have been featured in the United Solo  Festival, Dixon Place: HOT festival, EATfest, Eastbound Festival, the HyperAware Theater Company: Gutterdrunk series, Altruistic Theater Co: Bare Knuckle Theatre Fest and We are Theatre Night at the Cherry Lane. Her full length will be featured in the Milk Can Theatre Cow Series this November.



Christopher Johnston - Ensemble

Chris is so ecstatic to once again be joining the wonderful people at ESPA and IAC, after a short hiatus, in this awesome homage to Halloween. By day, Chris can be seen performing in the classroom for his  awesome students at P.S. 303. By night he is something that resembles a Power Ranger (The Red One!).

 

Joan Kane - Director

Joan Kane (director) was voted as one of  nytheatre.com  2011 People of the Year in Indie Theatre. She has directed plays and readings at the Lark, 59E59, Theater for the New City, Ensemble Studio Theatre, East Lynne Theatre, University of the Streets, NADA, Henry Street Settlement, Samuel French OOB Festival and Planet Connections Festival. She has an MFA in Directing from The New School for Drama, an MS in Museum Education from Bank St  and is a member of  SDC. Joan is the artistic director of Ego Actus, a NYC based theatre company. 

Betty Kaplan - Ensemble



Erin Layton - Ensemble

Erin Layton: NYC theatre credits include MAGDALEN (New York City 2012 International Fringe Festival, dir.  Julie Kline), the two person adaptation of THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE (Off-Broadway, Off-Broadway Alliance Nominee), LET US GO THEN, YOU AND I (Undergroundzero Theatre Festival), WEIRD SISTERS (East Third Ensemble), PITCH (East Coast Artists, LaMaMa), DARGER (Stage Left Studios), PEARL MERCHANT (Threads Theatre Company), among others. Regional credits include CANDLES TO THE SUN (Actors Theatre of Louisville), SALTWATER (International Theatre Collective), THE GREEKS/HECUBA, THE RIVALS (St. Louis Shakespeare Company). Erin works as a guest performing artist with Long Island University's Performing Arts Dept. in their productions of FIRES IN THE MIRROR, THE GLASS MENAGERIE and TWELFTH NIGHT (The Kumble Theater). She has facilitated and lead workshops in Suzuki, Viewpoints and has trained extensively with Ann Bogart’s SITI Company. www.magdalentheplay.wordpress.com

 

Rebecca Poulson - Playwright

Rebecca Poulson is a Brooklyn based writer, producer and comic whose work has been performed throughout the Midwest and New York. She is a winner of the Avery Hopwood Award and McIntyre Prize. Her play All the Windows on Alcatraz was featured as part of the New York International Fringe Festival.  She has studied at Second City, Improv Olympic, ESPA and the University of Michigan. Much thanks to ESPA and the IAC for this wonderful opportunity to explore her Irish roots through her work. Siothchain Agus Farisinge!



Imran Sheikh - Ensemble

Imran W. Sheikh's favorite theatre credits include Four Different Lives (59E59 Theatres/ Writopia), The Girl with Her Hands in the Sand (Cherry Lane Theatre/ NYC Fringe), Empress of Sex (Bleecker Street Theatre), Parts of Parts & Stitches (14th Street Theatre/ MTWorks), Beyond the Horizon (Theatre for the New City/ Parwaz Playhouse), Tymon of Athens (Hudson Shakespeare Co), and Merchant of Venice, Taming of the Shrew, and Hit & Match (American Theatre of Actors). He may currently be seen on the hit TV show Guy Code on MTV2, performing improv with Second Honeymoon and training at Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, or performing at the Sticky play series. Much love to darling Desi; big thanks to Joan and Jen; equal thanks to the cast for being a great group of people to work with.

 

Elizabeth Woodbury - Playwright

Liz Woodbury is a New York based Teaching Artist, Interdisciplinary Performer and Playwright. Original from Bucks County PA, she moved to NY upon graduating from Oberlin College. Since then, her plays have been presented at Theater for the New City (The Sky is Melting), The 45th Street Theater (Free Refills) and The Dixon Place (Free Refills). Liz is a Teaching Artist with Wingspan Arts and The Leadership Program and is a contributing artist to the upcoming Catalyst Project. She is very excited about partnering with the Irish Arts Center for the first time and continuing her new found relationship with ESPA! 


Marla Yost - Ensemble

Marla Yost: New York theater credits: The Love Talker (New York Fringe Festival), Flat Tire Moon (Wings Theater, with Ken Jennings), We Declare You A Terrorist (Here Arts Café), Pericles (Theater 411), One-Minute Play Fest (The Brick); PlayMakers Repertory Company: The Front Page, Caesar & Cleopatra, Richard II. MFA: PlayMakers Repertory Company/UNC-Chapel Hill, BA: Vassar College. Marla was raised in Iowa.
