Children's Concert with Lou Gallo, Jean Rohe, and Ilusha Tsinadze (from The Very Hungry Band)
Saturday, October 25 | 11 am
“The rhyme, rhythm, repetition and tunes of the songs will be laying down the firmest foundations of literacy in every child who enjoys them.” – Reading Magic
Children's musician Lou Gallo, multi-lingual singer, storyteller, and composer Jean Rohe (last here in spring 2014 as part of SongLives, created by Susan McKeown), and Georgian-American guitarist and singer Ilusha Tsinadze of The Very Hungry Band will perform an entertaining and interactive concert, “When I First Came to This Land,” exploring the theme of immigration. Combining a mixture of Irish and international folk tunes and original songs, the band will give kids opportunities to learn about the melting pot of New York, while inspiring them to sing, dance, and joyously interact with the music. With years of experience in New York City’s children’s music scene and playing over 100 shows a year, The Very Hungry Band’s concerts are beloved by children and adults alike.
Before and after the concert, enjoy interactive installations and activities that transport players through the Irish diaspora.
Running Time: 45 minutes
For ages 3-7
